There are quite a lot of charity shops where I live. To the point that the local Poekstops are mostly pubs and charity shops. When my parents come up to visit, one of our favourite things is to go into town and have a rummage round the charity shops. On our most recent trip, I picked up this grey shirt dress from New Look – with the tag still on! So I just had to share it with you.

I usually check clothes from charity shops (like those in my second hand chic post) really carefully before buying them, but I let my guard down with this grey shirt dress because it still had it's original tag. When I got home, I found that there were two marks on one of the shoulders. Thankfully, they've washed out. I suspect that they were foundation marks. They were definitely the right colour to be foundation.

Anyway, I'd seen a similar style dress on a friend's Instagram. I loved the look on her and it was really flattering with her wheelchair. So when I saw this dress, I knew I had to try it on. It's not something I'd usually pick up, but I figured it was worth it for the £7 or £8 it cost. I knew I could wear it alone on hot days, or with leggings and a t-shirt for cooler days. Dan and I are going on a cruise in August, and Mum has told me that I need to pack layers, so I suspect this dress with be coming with me.

I really like how the top part is loose, while the skirt section of this grey shirt dress is more fitted. I also really like the little folded collar and the pleats on the top. They're really flattering.

For this post, I opted to share the cooler option of this outfit with you. I paired this grey shirt dress with leggings from Select. They sell my favourite fit and are 2 for £8! I also chose to wear my New Look Chelsea boots. I love these! Under the dress, I've got on a New Look cami top. I wasn't expecting to be able to see the top underneath the dress, but I'm really glad that it does show. I feel it gives an extra element to the outfit. For my bag, I picked my Dorothy Perkins black cross body with silver detail and added my River Island faux leather jacket for extra warmth.

I opted for this silver drop necklace, but am not regretting that decision as I have no idea how to describe it. It's a sort of diamond cage. It was a present from Dan, I think one Christmas. I love it, because at the time I didn't have many pieces of jewellery from Dan that weren't expensive. So this necklace was a great option for me to wear when I was teaching. I really like how it sits with the neckline of the grey shirt dress.

If I wear the warmer version of this grey shirt dress (just the dress) on holiday and get some pictures, I'll be sure to share them with you.
